Full description

Take a walk through Bastogne's World War II history on this small group, full-day tour. Explore the region's most famous landmarks, memorials, and museums to better understand its importance during the war.

Meet your guide bright and early at your hotel in Lille, and head straight to the Ardennes American Cemetery in Neupré on a 2.15-hour scenic drive. Take your time to pay respect to the fallen American soldiers buried here, and learn about the 463 soldiers whose remains were never recovered. Make sure to look for the insignia of the major U.S. units that operated in northwest Europe during the war on the north facade of the cemetery.

Next, make your way to Bastogne where you'll see a World War II tank still standing in the square. Enjoy lunch at your own pace in the historical city before heading to the famous Mardasson Memorial — the principal memorial dedicated to World War II in the Ardennes.

Take your time to visit the Bastogne War Museum, where you'll gain a deeper understanding of what happened in the region during wartime.

End your day with a visit to the Bois Jacques, where the Easy Company fought, and see the remaining fox holes and trenches many soldiers fought in. Walk by the Bois de la Paix Memorial, erected on the 50th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge.

This tour is designed for the curious visitor who wants to do more than just scratch the surface. Your tour will end back in Lille, where you can continue to explore the region at your own pace.
