Depart in the afternoon from San Ignacio Town and drive through a small, traditional Mennonite community called Barton Creek. Continue on until arriving at the remnants of an ancient Mayan civilization, waiting to be explored in the cool, watery underground caverns. Float along the ancient Maya waterway inside the mountain while your local guide sheds light on the significance of the cave to the Mayas. Learn about the different rituals and ceremonies which were conducted inside of the cave, among them human sacrifices, bloodletting rituals, agricultural rituals, and possible fertility rites. Hear also about the geology of the cave. Conclude the tour with a one-hour drive back to San Ignacio.

We had a great time with Miguel. The trip was exactly as described, and the cave was mind blowing. Miguel knows a lot about geology and the Maya’s history. He answered all our questions thoroughly, and shared so much more about the Belizean culture. Highly recommended! Salsa and chips along with the rum punch were the cherry on top!

We wanted to do the ATM Cave but there was no capacity and no time to do it on another day. Therefor we booked this tour and were really happy about it. Leo is an amazing guide and knows so much and you get a really impression of the caves. Def a good alternative option. Special thanks to Elmar for being an amazing driver/guide

Miguel was an awesome tour guide! He paced us through Barton Creek Cave and was very knowledgeable about rock formations and about Mayan people and how they used the cave. He let us swim in the lake as long as we wanted and was patient guiding our 5 year old along the whole tour. Thanks, Miguel!

Such a great day out! Our guide Leo was so friendly and knowledgeable, we learned so much about Belize! The caves were unbelievable, and ducking under the rock formations watching the bats go past was incredible. Would 100% recommend.

This was a great activity and Marlon was really fantastic
