Full description

This full-day tour from Barcelona follows in the tracks of the surrealist genius Salvador Dalí, exploring the landscape that inspired his art. You’ll visit his favorite haunts and secret hideaways, as well as the legendary Dali Museum at Figueres and his former home near Cadaqués. Go from Barcelona to Figueres, where you’ll visit Dalí’s birthplace and the extraordinary museum dedicated to his work. Dalí wanted visitors to see his massive collection as a “whole,” so there are no catalogues and the work is not displayed in any organized manner. The tour continues to the beautiful coastal village of Cadaqués, famous for its whitewashed Mediterranean houses and narrow streets. With its charming bay, it is one of the most picturesque villages on the Costa Brava. What is particularly stunning is the dramatic scenery on the drive there. For lunch, you can enjoy local seafood specialties at one of the numerous terraces, or grab a sandwich and relax on the beach. You’ll soon understand why Cadaqués inspired Dalí and so many other artists.

Travel up the coast to the smaller village of Port Lligat, where Dalí sought the peace and quiet that truly inspired him.  The winter schedule (September 1 to June 30) starts with a drive to Figueres, where you will spend the morning exploring the Dalí Museum.

From the museum, drive to Cadaqués. After lunch at your own expense, continue exploring Cadaqués or head to Port Lligat, to visit Dali's House. The summer schedule (July 1 to August 31) leaves Figueres for Pubol Castle, once the home of Dalí and his wife Gala, located in the village of the same name.

Visit the Gala Dalí House-Museum in the castle, and after lunch, venture to one of the many beautiful beachside towns that dot the Costa Brava coastline.

Despite some very rude tour guests making out like two gorrillas in heat the entire trip our tour guide was very professional. I mean they were clearly high as balls and slurping each other’s faces off in a small van for all to hear and see hear. They also made the whole tour late and I over heard them insulting the locals. Again our guide plugged on telling us history and safely driving us despite the slurping rolling gorillas leaning over into his driver’s seat while sucking their faces off. It was beyond cringe. If you are interested in this amazing tour don’t be rude jack holes.

We are very happy we did this excursion. The Dali museum and his home with Gala are off the beaten path and are "must sees". The stop at the beach was our one time to get to swim in the Mediterranean and we totally enjoyed our couple of hours on the beach with the "locals". Our guide was great and when it appeared that the first beach stop we had planned to go to was not acceptable due to a long walk due to changes made during the pandemic, he quickly made other arrangements for a beach that was even a better choice. A small group 7 persons was perfect and made us feel like we blended in rather than park of a huge tour group. Great trip and I recommend it.

What a trip! One of the best things I will remember from our visit to Spain (Barcelona) area! Our guide Enrique was simply a blast! Such an extraordinary guide full of energy and a lot of stories! Very entertaining, a lot of interesting facts and great storytelling from Enrique! It was a pleasure to visit Dali's museum, where you can spend hours and I recommend you to visit it at least once a year! Visiting Cadaques, his father's home village, is a haven beach town where we had a very nice lunch and refreshing cold beer. I would come over there just for summer vacation for a week! And for the end, like cherry on the top, we visited the Dali and Gala's summer house next to the sea, an amazing house, full with Dali's spirit! Just to feel more of his soul and artistic spirit.
