Full description
Bypass the lines waiting to enter the Sagrada Familia with your skip-the-line entrance ticket. Head straight to the heart of the cathedral for a 1.5-hour guided tour. Gaudí’s most ambitious project draws more than three million visitors per year. The UNESCO-listed masterpiece of Modernist architecture showcases Gaudí at the peak of his talent. Step through the heavy doors covered in hand-carved vines and you’ll be in awe of the rows and rows of tree-like pillars that seem to reach to the heavens. It was great. It is beautiful and can’t really be described. Please know that if you take the tower, you will take the elevator up and walk down the 400 stairs. This is the only way to get down. Go early to avoid the crowds as j I II will get backed up coming down. The stairs are narrow so it is single file. Christina was very knowledgeable and pleasant.

Unfortunately, I got lost on the way to the tour and was late for my group. The leader of the next group was still there and arranged to get me into her group even though she did not have my ticket. Somehow it was known that the other group was missing one person and I was permitted admission. I was also supposed to do a tour of the tower and this guide contacted the other one at the end of her tour to get me my ticket. Due to weather the tower tour had been canceled, so I did not miss anything as a result. I am very thankful to the guide for going to that effort. BTW, the tour was very informative.

There are several tour groups that meet in the same area. Our guide was late but originally we thought we had missed her. It worked out fine though and she was a good guide. If you do the tower, be sure your knees are in good shape. There is an elevator that takes you most of the way up, but you must walk down 365 steps. Most of the way down, there are walls on both sides, which makes it a little dark so watch your step. The last about 100 steps, there is no wall or rail on the inside, so you can see down. It is a little disconcerting. My legs were shaking at the bottom.
