Everyone was early, so luckily we could start the tour on time. The travelling time to the mountain is about 1h, and it's comfortable with the private shuttle. The guide spoke along the way, giving us some historical facts and interesting stories. We then had free time to explore the monastery or go up to the very top of the mountain. There were some stands along the road where you could buy local cheese and other goods which was very nice. The way back was also timely and comfortable. It would have been nice to have tickets to go and see the madonna, but although it is free, if you are in a tour it is somehow not possible.

Arriving before it started to get crowded, I was able to walk slowly through the monastery. Those who want to enjoy trekking can also cancel the return bus and use the mountain railway to return. It's a landscape that you won't get tired of for hours, and there are museums, so it might be a good idea to start a full-day tour from the beginning.

If there is a trip that should be take while in Barcelona, then this is it. Monteserrat is one of the places you should see at least once in your lifetime. The trip was interesting, the guide fun and attentive, and the hike to St. Michael's cross (on guide's recommendation) clears your thoughts and makes you find your inner peace, if you lost it or never found it before.
