Full description
Upon arrival at the monastery, northwest of the city, learn about the lives of the monks in the monastery and sacred mountain. Visit the Museum de Montserrat and see a collection of artifacts that range from Egyptian mummies to canvasses by Picasso. Although much of the collection was lost in the Napoleonic War, the museum continued to add to its collection, and the museum is now home to important works of 20th-century Catalan art. See archaeological finds from Mesopotamia, Ancient Egypt and Palestine. Admire old paintings from the 13th to 18th centuries by artists such as Morales, El Greco, and Caravaggio. Fall in love with the Renaissance architecture of the 16th-century basilica. Go to the atrium and sacristy, and see the permanent collection of images of the Virgin Mary. If you book the option that includes entrance to the Monastery, you will enjoy a liquor tasting.

It was good. However the museum was close when we went there. Our tour guide has given us few trivia about the place however, I wish it was more entertaining. The travel was very comfortable tho, I suggest riding funicular or cable car would be more scenic rather than a bus. Make sure to bring coat and hat . There is a little coffee shop which you can have breakfast at the monastery.

Note pickup location was 200m down the road from the instructions (near the Arco de Triunfo) as 8 of us were waiting at the location specified in the instructions which is not accurate. As for the trip really nice and compact, you get to see the main sites and we had almost 2hrs of free time (maybe not enough but good if you want to get back to Barcelona to do other things), we took the funicular to the top and visited the museum which has some very famous paintings so not to be missed. Overall a very pleasant and enjoyable day trip.

We had a fantastic tour led by Jonathan. He gave us a full background before we arrived at the monastery and ensured we could visit the religious shrine to the Black Madonna and the world class art collection. The early trip helped avoid all the crowds that came later. We highly recommend this tour for both the religious and artistic aspects,
