Located on the Mediterranean coastline between the mouths of two rivers, Barcelona is well placed for shore excursions. Here are five of the best ways to take a break from the bustle of city-life.
The Costa Brava is littered with Greek and Roman ruins, but if seeing them is a priority then set sail to Empúries. The town was abandoned long ago for being too easy to invade!
Only accessible by boat, the spectacular cliffs of Sierra de Montgrí are among Costa Brava's most well-preserved natural heritage sites.
Head to the Medes Archipelago marine reserve to see the old lighthouse and fort ruins among its dramatic scenery. Oh, and you'll probably spot some colorful sealife too!

Remember that sailing in the Mediterranean means you'll be exposed to the elements, so bring plenty of sunscreen as well as a hat and umbrella. Check if your Barcelona tour boat operator is providing food and beverages on your cruise. Even if they are, it's best to bring extra bottled water and snacks just in case.

Jorge was amazing!!! The entire experience from start to finish was impeccable. I will be requesting Jorge every time I come back to experience. The cava and refreshments were good too. He played good music while were out sitting on the ocean. Just a relaxing and enjoyable time. I recommend this to everyone visiting Barcelona, Jorge will take good care of you! Thanks again Jorge.
Great Family experience ! Our skipper/captain Jorge was fantastic and really professional. Really easy to find in the Harbour and he was just at the entrance to welcome us. The boat was really clean and all requirements for the COVID 19 were met. We were only 8 on the boats (Already 4 of us !) so we could easily keep the social distance. I highly recommend it.
Had a great time with Raymond. The boat trip was really excellent - we were lucky enough to be the only group who had booked that day. Food and drink were good too! Worth the money for sure.
