Full description
Visit the KRB MAPFRE Foundation Photography Center in the Port Olimpic area of Barcelona and explore a space dedicated to artistic photography. From October, 5 to January, 15 2023 discover two exhibition spaces featuring contemporary photography: CARRIE MAE WEEMS: A Big Twist on the Possible (temporary exhibition) Extensive retrospective of the great multidisciplinary artist Carrie Mae Weems (Portland, Oregon, 1953), whose work has been aimed at reformulating the identity of the Afro-American community and that of women, exploring the mechanisms that hide behind power and questioning the institutional narratives around history. His works, although they focus on photography, exceed the limits of the medium and range from performance to video or installation ‒to name just a few disciplines‒ and are permeated by a sense of struggle against injustice and violence with the hope to be able to make this a better world. The exhibition is shown simultaneously at the KBr Fundación MAPFRE and at Foto Colectania. To access to Foto Colectania, this ticket must be shown at the entrance and pay 3€ supplement. KBr FLAME 22 (temporary exhibition) KBr's annual meeting with emerging creation and the new generations of photographers who are beginning their professional careers after training at the main photography schools in Barcelona (Grisart, Idep Barcelona, IEFC, Elisava). This year the exhibition will host the projects by Nanouch Congost (Girona, 1999), Guillermo Fernández (Granada, 1991), Jordi Miquel Riera (Girona, 1977) and Sílvia Parés (Vic, 1997), selected through a viewing process with industry professionals.
