Beginning your adventure in Bangkok, head northeast to visit the sit of the Phra Buddha Badh shrine, and the Wat Phra Si Maha That–the oldest temple in Lopburi. This is a great chance to learn more about Buddhism, but also the historical significance of these sights in relation to the Khmer empire.
Marvel at dramatic terrains and mountainous landscapes at the national park of Khao Yai and the historical park of Prasat Phnom Rung. Witness the authentic and traditional Thailand, outside of the big cities.
Because the details of this excursion have already been organized for you, such as transportation, meals, and accommodation, you can really relax and tour northern Thailand without the normal stresses of traveling.
Day 1 (L)
Depart Bangkok in the morning heading towards northeastern Thailand. Your first stop is at Saraburi. Visit the site of Phra Buddha Badh shrine which shelters the prints of the feet of Buddha and many bells of temples.
Proceed to Lopburi, visiting Wat Phra Si Maha That, the oldest temple in Lopburi. Also see Phra Prang Sam Yod and Prang Khaek. Have lunch at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon stop to explore the national park of Khao Yai with its gigantic Buddha sitting on the hill. Stay overnight at the Juldis Khao Yai Resort or similar.
Day 2 (B, L)
After breakfast at your hotel drive to Khao Yai National Park and admire the mountainous landscape. Stop to visit the original bamboo bridge suspension at Haew Suwat. Continue to Korat via Si Khiu where you will stop for lunch at a local restaurant.
Continue towards Pimai Historical Park to discover the Khmer temples which from Angkor Wat. Stay overnight at the Sima Thani Hotel.
Day (B, L)
Breakfast at your hotel and then drive further northeast to visit the impressive Khmer temples of Prasat Phnom Rung historical park in the Buriram province. The temples here resemble the Angkor temple ruins of Cambodia.
Have lunch at a local restaurant before making the return transfer to Bangkok, arriving at your hotel in the late evening.
