Woody was an amazing guide, very knowledgeable and gave us lots of insight on the tour about the railway itself but also more generally about Thailand. The day was really well paced and structured, we started off with the war cemetery and museum that set the scene and provided all the background for what we were about to see. We then went to the bridge at the River Kwai and had time for photos and to be on the bridge as a train drove through. We then took the train ourselves for a beautiful journey and Woody made sure we got good seats. At our end destination we had plenty of time to walk along the tracks and visit the Krasae cave bridge. The day was very eye opening and a very important part of history, very pleased to have experienced it. Day was finished with a good lunch at a nearby restaurant before the drive back. The driver was very professional and made sure we had water and stopped for toilet breaks. Really recommend this trip!

Full description

Learn about the construction of the Burma Railway, also known as the “Death Railway,” on this 10-hour historical tour to Kanchanaburi, approximately 80 miles (130 kilometers) west of Bangkok.

Upon arrival, you will tour the well-kept War Cemetery, where the graves of an estimated 9,000 Allied soldiers are tended. They perished while constructing the notorious "Death Railway,” which the Japanese had hoped would stretch all the way to the Burmese border.

Uncover the terrible history of the railway at the Thailand-Burma Railway Centre, an interactive museum, research, and information center dedicated to presenting the story of the Thailand-Burma Railway built during World War II. See the past recreated and relived with pictures and artifacts.
You will also ride a train along the original Death Railway track, with a sumptuous lunch awaiting at the disembarkation station. Return to Bangkok in the late afternoon for your hotel drop-off.

Ong was an excellent guide; well-informed, organized, and attentive throughout the trip. The vehicle provided was both comfortable and spotless. The entire program was thoughtfully planned and ran smoothly without any issues. The train ride was a highlight, especially thanks to Ong securing seats on the left side, giving us a perfect view as we crossed the wooden viaduct. Lunch was served at a fantastic restaurant that was not only spacious but also exceptionally clean. Overall, the experience was seamless and thoroughly enjoyable from start to finish.
