Full description
This cooking class provides you not only with insights into Thai food and cooking, but also into the local culture. The course starts at 9:00 AM with an introduction to the key ingredients used in Thai cooking and is followed by a market tour, where the ingredients are picked out. The school is located in the market, so there is not far to go to start cooking! Once back at the school, prepare four dishes under the following categories: appetizers, salad, stir fry and curry. Learn about the diversity of ingredients and how different dishes can be adapted using various ingredients. Apply this newly found knowledge through sessions of creating a salad and a Pad Thai masterclass, where you can get creative. At the end you will all sit down for lunch to enjoy the food you have worked hard to prepare.  During the class you will typically learn the following dishes (subject to change): • Miang Khum • Seasonal Fruit Salad (savory)  • Green or Red Curry • Pad Thai with a twist You will also have a few surprise snacks and drinks throughout the class as well as dessert.  The class is taught by an experienced Thai chef and the class size is limited to eight people per class, to maintain a personal learning experience.

Meeting point

The Market Experience Cooking School, Yodpiman Flower Market, 2nd floor. The location is the building between the main road and Yodpiman River Walk (the newer restaurant / shopping area by the river). • How to get here from the city center: take the river ferry and get off at Pak Klong Talad pier (pier N6/1). You can get the blue flag tourist ferry (40THB – first boat is 9am) or the local orange flag ferry (15THB – runs from early morning). If staying near a skytrain station you can get the Skytrain to Saphan Taksin and then the ferry. When you get off the ferry you will be in Yodpiman River Walk and need to walk straight into the main flower market.

We had a great time at the cooking class (and eating the delicious dishes afterwards). Alyssa is an experienced chef, a friendly and warm person, and she made us feel relaxed and at ease from the start. Everything was lovingly arranged, and she even had 2 different cold drinks prepared for us. Preparing the dishes was fun and informative at the same time, and the market tour was exactly what we needed to get an orientation for Thai food. Without Alyssa, we would have felt lost there, but with her, we had a wonderful foodie experience!

The location, guides and food are perfect and fun.

I was a bit late because my taxi dropped me off at the wrong place. Ofcourse i recommend to be on time but they extended the time instead of dropping a dish in the cooking class. That was really nice from them and we started with some explaination about what we were going to do that day. After that you get ready and the fun begins, you make fun recipes and also go for a market tour where i learned many things from! The people are very friendly and know what they are talking about. After completing a dish you taste ofcourse, so don’t go for a big breakfast before starting this class(that would be a waste for yourself). After the final dishes you sit together, compare everything and also talk and eat. I really enjoyed myself and recommend this class to everyone else who is interested in the Thai kitchen!
