Experience the "Venice of the East" aboard a restored rice barge made of teak on a 4-hour open-air cruise in Bangkok. Sail along Thailand's “River of Kings” and its canals, and feast from a delicious selection of tropical fruits along the way.
What to Expect
Climb aboard a restored rice barge and enjoy a half-day cruise down the Chao Phraya River.
Following a pick-up from your hotel in Bangkok, transfer to the main pier of the Chao Phraya River for the start of an enchanting boat ride through the canals that lead out to Bangkok’s idyllic surroundings. Marvel at the rural scenery and simple way of life of the canal-side dwellers.
Navigate the “River of Kings” by converted rice barge, and enjoy cold drinks, tropical fruits, desserts, and an assortment of nuts as you take in the views of historical sites and landmark monuments. Pass gleaming, 5-star hotels and ramshackle homes made of wood. Watch river ferries, long-tail boats, and large barges, pulled by tugboats a fraction of their size, ply their trade across the frenetic waterway.
An English-speaking guide will point out all the famous landmarks, such as the Temple of the Dawn (Wat Arun), the Grand Palace, and the Royal Barge Museum. See boats of all shapes and sizes on a trip that highlights the importance of the river as Bangkok’s lifeblood. Then, transfer back to your hotel in downtown Bangkok for an estimated drop off at 17:30.
