  • Ride your bike on roads bordered by mangrove forests and salt pans
  • Enjoy lunch at the water’s edge at the Gulf of Thailand
This unique full-day tour takes you out of bustling Bangkok by boat, train, and bike to the water's edge at the Gulf of Thailand. Escape the hectic streets of the big city and experience rural life, including fish farms, salt pans, and mangrove forests.
What to Expect
Travel by bike, boat and train to a little-visited part of Thailand populated by local fish farmers and fishing families on this full-day tour from Bangkok.

Once out of the urban area you’ll ride along dirt roads bordered by mangroves on one side and salt pans or fish farms on the other, stopping frequently to admire wildlife, such as kingfishers trying to catch their breakfast, or the protected and shy water monitors, some of which can reach up to 3 meters in length. For most visitors the most peculiar of the fauna is the mudskipper fish that truly is a fish out of water.

Out here foreigners are a rarity, so as you gaze in amazement at the locals and their way of life, be prepared to be the object of scrutiny as well, as the locals will find you an interesting curiosity too. This is a perfect escape from the city. The air is crisp and clean and the friendliness of the people will surprise you.

So, put on the sunblock and your sunglasses and be prepared for a day of adventure. Don’t forget your binoculars as this area is a nature lover's paradise.

Meet at 7:00, and after a quick bike fitting and briefing you’ll cycle to the local train station. En route you'll cross the Chao Phraya River by water ferry and then take the back roads and alleyways to the station.

The hour-long train ride gives you an opportunity to relax and see the transition from urban to rural surroundings. After arriving at the train station you'll have a brief stroll through the local market before taking the ferry across the river.

On the other side of the river, a short bike ride will take you to the start of some seriously exciting cycling along dirt roads, and around fish farms and salt pans, all the way down to the Gulf. Enjoy a delicious lunch at a water's edge restaurant.

Ride along the Gulf, through a fishing village and on to the Mangrove Conservation Centre, the Tha Chin port, and its temple, with the most beautiful crematorium in Thailand.

Continuing through this village, you’ll make your way back to the station for the trip by train back to Bangkok.

This tour covers a total of 52 kilometers and takes around 9 hours, usually finishing at around 17:30.
