Full description

Enjoy a long tail boat journey in Bangkok. Meet your guide at River City Shopping mall and visit the old city of Thonburi, an independent province until it was merged with Bangkok in 1971. Experience the local way of living, rarely seen from the other side of town. Historically, the Thai capital Bangkok was crisscrossed by klongs (canals), and gained the nickname "Venice of the East". Klongs were used for transportation and for floating markets, but also for sewage disposal. Today, most of the khlongs of Bangkok have been filled in, although the Thonburi side of Bangkok (covering areas west of Chao Phraya River) still retains several of its larger khlongs.

It was very nice experience to see Bangkok from different perspective. Our guide was very sweet and told us a lot about everything we have seen around us. We had been dropped off at Wat Arun and enjoyed it a lot as well. Definitely go for this tour, it is worth it.

My family and I took the Longtail Canal Tour on 17 Aug 2022. We had a wonderful time, thanks to our knowledgeable guide Yu. She really made the cruise come alive with her stories about old and new Bangkok, Wat Arun, Bangkok’s full (very long) name. We had so much fun hearing about the 500 temples in Bangkok, how fish hide near the temples to avoid being caught by fishermen, the Buddhist Day every week in the Thai calendar, the old flag with an elephant when Thailand was known as Siam, etc. The captain also navigated the Chao Praya river and canals very skilfully and made sure everyone was comfortable during the one hour which just flew by Highly recommend this to anyone visiting Bangkok to experience how the city used to live before the towering skyscrapers and skytrains were built

Uncle ode( visaroj akarawong) went beyond what was expected of him as our tour guide. He gave us mini history lessons about thailand while cruising along the chao phraya river and visiting wat arun. He also accompanied and showed us around iconsiam which was not part of our 2 hour tour. Thank you uncle ode for an interesting and enjoyable afternoon!
