Full description

Choose to meet your guide at the meeting point or take advantage of hotel transfer services from your accommodation in Bangkok. Drive towards the Ancient city of Ayutthaya, the former capital of Thailand. Make your first stop at Wat Phra Sri Sanphet which was for a long time considered to be the spiritual center of Thailand. Situated within the royal palace grounds, the temple is the royal monastery and is a model of the royal temple of the Emerald Buddha or Wat Phra Kaew in Bangkok. Then, head to Wat Mahathat Ayutthaya which is one of the oldest and most significant temples in the history of Ayutthaya as it housed the Buddha's holy relic. The temple is most famous for the Buddha head situated in a Bodhi tree root. Next, stop at Wat Ratchaburana which houses a large number of Buddha images and gold artifacts. Enjoy lunch that will be served at Krungsri River Hotel. In the afternoon, continue on to the Chao Samphraya National Museum. Admire the most important objects here including the Buddha relics found inside the crypt of Wat Mahathat and other golden treasures like the golden sword, the golden headgear (hat), the miniature royal regalia, golden sculptures, and more. Then, visit Wat Lokaya Sutharam to see the 42-meter-long reclining white Buddha.

Last but not least, finish the trip at Wat Chaiwattanaram which rests on the bank of the Chao Phraya River. Learn about how the temple was ordered to built in 1630 by King Prasat Thong to honor his mother featuring the architectural style influenced by the Angkor Wat temple complex in Cambodia. Arrive back in Bangkok at around 5 PM.

If you have enough time in Bangkok to do a full day tour outside of Bangkok this is a great tour. Ayutthaya is an impressive site. We visited at least 6 or 7 locations in this area throughout the day. The guide Siri was really good about both giving us history as well as bringing in stories about the Royals and the history of the various palaces. He also very patiently took lots of pictures of the 3 couples that were on this tour. The driver was also very safe and good. The one thing that I know is outside the purview of the guide or this company is Thailand/Ayutthaya and UNESCO needs to stop the riding of elephants around this area. It was very disturbing to see the elephants who were in bad shape walking around. Also, in this day and age of Coronavirus not sure a buffet lunch is still a great idea. Maybe box lunches should be in order until this all passes. I would definitely recommend this company to do a tour of Ayutthaya.

We really enjoyed the excursion to Ayutthaya. The guide was very knowledgeable about history of Ayutthaya and especially buddhism. The guide was polite, punctual and professional. The driver was also very gentle and drive carefully. The lunch buffet included in the excursion was very good. We suggest this excursion to everyone who loves history of Thailand.

This tour is perfect for anyone staying in Bangkok who wants to see as much of Ayutthaya as possible in one day. Our guide, Siri, was extremely knowledgeable and helpful - and seemed genuinely passionate about the topics he was talking about. The lunch was fine, though I don't quite understand the enthusiasm about it in some of the comments here. ***Note to parents with young children: keep in mind that this is an all-day tour that can be very tiring.
