Full description
Enjoy a comprehensive private day trip with luxury transportation included to Baltimore, Maryland, from Washington DC. Explore one of the most historic and strategic port cities in the United States, and discover why Baltimore is also known as “Charm City.” Depart with your guide from the US Navy Memorial Plaza, steps from the National Mall, in Washington DC and drive for about 1 hour to Baltimore. Once there, learn about key moments of Baltimore's past, such as the legendary British bombardment during the War of 1812 and the birth of the American national anthem. Hear about important historic figures that called Baltimore home, including Frederick Douglass, Charles Carroll, and Wallis Simpson, later known as the Duchess of Windsor after marrying Edward VIII, the Prince of Wales. Visit the famous Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine as well as the gravesite of the famed American writer, Edgar Allen Poe. Moving along to modern times, marvel at Baltimore's Inner Harbor, where the city's historic charm meets its architectural beauty. Take photos of the ships lining Inner Harbor (with the option to visit the USS Constellation) and the internationally renowned Oriole Park at Camden Yards, home of Baltimore's baseball team, The Orioles. There will be dozens of restaurants to choose from for your lunch. However, be sure to try Baltimore's signature dish, Maryland Crab Cakes flavored with a bit of Old Bay, a locally made seasoning. You'll have time for exploration on your own, including an optional entrance to the acclaimed National Aquarium. You'll then board a luxury vehicle with your guide for your return back to Washington DC.
