Day 1 Ancient Amman, Madaba, Mount Nebo. 9:00 AM You will be picked up from your preferred location in Amman to start your trip to Madaba (a 45-minute drive) to visit Madaba Archaeological Park, Church of the Martyrs, and St George's Greek Orthodox Church. Then will head to Mount Nebo (a 15-minute drive), an amazing historical mountain mentioned in many religious books and legends. According to the Christian Bible, the Prophet Moses saw the land that God promised him from this mountain. For the Jewish people, the land of Mount Nebo is a sacred and forbidden land, where the followers of the Prophet walked with him when they left Egypt. After that, you head back to Amman' to visit the Citadel for 1.5 hours before visit the Roman Theater for 30 minutes. Bethany Jordan River Baptism Site of Jesus Situated on the eastern bank of the River Jordan, nine kilometres north of the Dead Sea, the archaeological site consists of two distinct areas: Tell Al-Kharrar, also known as Jabal Mar-Elias (Elijah’s Hill) and the area of the churches of Saint John the Baptist near the river. Situated in a pristine natural environment the site is believed to be the location where Jesus of Nazareth was baptized by John the Baptist. It features Roman and Byzantine remains including churches and chapels, a monastery, caves that have been used by hermits and pools in which baptisms were celebrated, testifying to the religious character of the place.
