Full description

Scale one of Bali’s natural wonders with a private, early-morning hike up Mount Batur, including breakfast and a trip to a coffee plantation afterwards.  With all entry tickets, accommodation transfers, and an expert local guide also included, the only thing you’ll have to worry about is enjoying the panoramic views.  Begin your ascent at the base of Mount Batur after an early pickup from your accommodation. You’ll even start your jungle trek on an exclusive path with fewer trekkers around. Savor the pristine night sky away from the city lights as you hike. After a 2-hour trek, you’ll then be rewarded at the top with sunrise views over the natural landscape and ocean horizon. And even better, you get to enjoy breakfast at the volcano’s summit.  On the way down you’ll enjoy more vistas, such as Lake Batur, an enormous volcanic crater lake.  You’ll also have the opportunity to stop off for a cup of local Luwak coffee at a coffee plantation before being dropped off back at your accommodation.

Our guide Wayan was great, he was very friendly and patient. Allowed us to walk at a leisurely pace without tiring us out! Also he took plenty of photos of us at the summit, and make sure you ask him to take a ‘mirror’ photo for you, it looks great!

Collection and transport worked wonderfully. there were only four of us, which sounded good. in the base camp you get coffee, biscuits, a flashlight and a bamboo stick. but here it was also clear that this would be mass processing, no matter how many participants the group had. there must have been around 60 people here. we had a great guide who took great care of the participants. but unfortunately the participants of the different guides were not divided into different teams (depending on experience and condition). at first it was only on dirt roads, which soon became steeper. even here, despite the moderate pace, some participants fell behind by minutes, which is why we had to wait again and again. further up the path becomes very steep in parts, often on loose sand/scree. many inexperienced and poorly equipped participants just barely get up here and even worse down. the cloudless sunrise was very beautiful, despite 1000 people on the edge of the crater.

What an amazing morning. We were picked up by our guide Wira on time and brought to the base of the mountain where we met our other guide Lou and began our ascent up the mountain to see the most amazing sunrise. The ascent is difficult and I would definitely recommend shoes with good grip on them. Lou always made sure to check if we were doing OK and had plenty of stops on the difficult sections. She was very funny and kept us laughing for the whole hike. When we descended we were met again by Wira who brought us to a great coffee plantation. Wira was a fantastic driver who kept us entertained and informed with so many stories of Balinese culture and history. He was a very humble, polite man who had a great sense of humour!
