Spend your day taking part in 2 recreational dives at Tulamben Bay, one of Bali's best-known dive sites. Head underwater just 20 meters offshore to visit the famous Liberty Shipwreck, an amazing site that offers an extraordinary glimpse of marine life.
What to Expect
Enjoy an exciting and adventurous day in Bali on this diving excursion at Tulamben Bay that includes 2 separate dives. After pick-up at your hotel, you will transfer to Tulamben where you will have a variety of dives awaiting you.
First head down to Libery Shipwreck, a cargo ship built during World War I. The wreck is long and broken up which means going inside is not possible, but you can still see the guns, toilets, boilers, anchor chain, and more. The wreck is very popular with photographers, so if you have a camera, snap away. Regardless, you can still enjoy the sights. You will see how it is encrusted in anemone, gorgonians, and corals. The black sand provides an excellent color contrast for the incredible variety of marine life, which includes a huge school of big-eyed trevally and over 400 other species of fish. All the fish are very tame, and you will feel goatfish and wrasse that nibble around your feet and fins, and see unicorn fish and surgeonfish which make a beeline for your mask as you swim down toward the wreck.
Next, head to the Drop-Off Wall, an old lava flow from Mount Agung. On the wall you will spot a multitude of sponges, corals, black coral bushes, and gorgonian fans. Experience fish life similar to that found on the wreck. You might also encounter white tip and black tip reef sharks, large napoleon wrasse, big bumphead parrotfish, some big filefish, and large moray eel. Check out the back reef at the top of the wall, containing an excellent "aquarium section," including cuttlefish, octopus, boxer crabs, and many other unexpected treasures.
The last stop is at the Coral Garden, a shallow reef that's also excellent for snorkeling. See the table and fire corals interspersed with anemones, as well as barrel and other sponges. You might also spot a surprising number of blue ribbon eels and octopus. See if you can identify the variety of shrimp, along with the different anemone fish, plus, painted frogfish, leaf scorpionfish and boxer crabs.
