Full description
This experience will allow you to get down and dirty with friendly Sumatran elephants while also discovering all about their behaviour and lifestyle from the experienced mahout handlers. You’ll learn interesting facts on why you find elephants basking in mud during summer months. Following hotel pickup, you will arrive at Kampung Sumatra at Bali Zoo to receive a brief introduction to the program while enjoying a complimentary snack and coffee or tea. Meet your English-speaking mahout who will tell you about the gentle giants you’re about to meet, provide information about the elephants' behaviour, how to take care of them, and answer any questions you might have. You will be provided with a selection of fruit for feeding them and then proceed to the river bank where you’ll be introduced to the free-roaming elephants and have a chance to play, feed, and interact with them. After that, you and the elephants will walk to play in the mud and sand spa. With a generous mix of earth, water, and fun, you get covered in mud along with your new elephant friends who love getting dirty. During this time, you will have a chance to observe their behaviour. Eventually you’ll walk with the elephants down to the nearby River Wos to join them for a splash, bathe, and scrub down. Then you’ll return to the zoo for a shower and change followed by a relaxing lunch until noon. You’ll be free to explore the rest of the zoo and the collection of over 300 rare and exotic animals including rare and endangered species such as the Komodo Dragon, Sumatran Tiger, Orang Utan, and Bali Starling. This experience is designed to not only enlighten you on the behaviour of these magnificent mammals, but also leave you fulfilled having participated in one of the most unique outdoor adventures you will have during your stay in Bali whether visiting as a couple or the entire family. Optional upgrade your experience with breakfast with our adorable Orangutan at their playground. Breakfast in the zoo might be a common thing, but breakfast with Orangutan? That would be one kind of an experience!. The first in Indonesia, Bali Zoo launched a unique Breakfast with Orangutan experience. Now, guests are not only able to enjoy breakfast like a king, but also with kings of the jungle: Orangutans.

We booked the morning session and was nice to feed the elephant , give it a mud bath, then a scrubbing in the shower and a good soak in the river nearby. The river part was my favorite! You get a locker with a key to leave your stuff and you can get your phone with you as to take your own pictures/video and leave it a box when you don't use it. Be advised that there will be some photographers that will take pictures of you and they are different companies and will ask a lot of money for the photos. At the lunch you will see the pictures and decided if it is worth it.

Amazing day with some cakes for breakfast, coffee or tea as you begin and then meet and feed the elephants before giving them a mud bath, washing them and then bringing them to the shallow river to wash them off and cool them down. Mentors give great information all the way around also

One of our best Bali days. The zoo itself is a nice place to visit but spending time with the elephants was amazing! We fed them, washed them, took a mud bath with them and bathed in the river with them. The elephant keepers were wonderful and made sure we got the best out of the experience. Including lots of photos on your own phone in case you don’t want to buy the official ones. The elephants are happy at the zoo, saved from human predators and treated with love and great respect. The money we paid included lunch and afternoon tea as-well as transport to and from the zoo. All in all it was a great day.
