Your adventure begins with pickup from your hotel then heads into the Eastern Bali, also known as ’New Bali’, one of the island’s most remote and exotic areas boasting scenic mountains and ancient temples. Some of the island’s most magnificent historical landmarks call Eastern Bali their home, including well-kept royal palaces and beautiful water gardens.
The first stop of the day is the stunning Taman Ujung Water Palace, which has undergone extensive renovations since the eruption of the nearby Mount Agung nearly destroyed it in 1963. At the palace, explore the complex of pools and historic structures set against a stunning backdrop of the shoreline. Afterwards, follow the shoreline and marvel at the traditional salt panners who work here in the hot sun to retrieve some of the tastiest sea salt in the world. Then, visit Kusamba where you can learn about the salt panning process and join a local farmer at work.
Following your salting experience, visit Sidemen Village, which has been compared to the popular destination of Ubud. The village straddles one of the many agricultural valleys that form the ramp up to the imposing peak of the volcanic Gunung Agung with panoramic rice terraces, farmlands and the quaint villages nestled in hills and valleys. At the village there’s also time to visit Monkey Bar and swim over a lush jungle of Dawan.
