Our guide contacted us the day before to agree pick up time. he was very flexible. On the day of the tour Rafael our driver picked us up as agreed in a sedan and we drove to Qobustan. Here we switched for another vehicle to go offloading in, a 4WD, to the mud volcanoes. It was bumpy fun to get there and wr could take our time. At the Qobustan museum we had a local guide to take us around and again we had enough time to see all we wanted. Closer to town to the Bibi-Heydar mosque and the 1st oil field. The driver was very professional and knowledgeable. It was not a luxurious tour, but as a private tour it had all wr needed and I thought the price was fair in comparison to what we saw locally as well. I would recommend.

Full description

Visit the Gobustan Museum of Petroglyphs, about 70 kilometers from Baku, to see prehistoric rock drawings, or petroglyphs.

On this 5-hour tour you’ll see one of the largest collections in Gobustan, at the Baku State Reserve of History, Ethnography, and Arts. The most significant are the petroglyphs carved by primitive men on walls of caves and on rocks, reflecting the culture, economy, and world outlook of the ancient Azeri people.

Continue to the Bibi-Heybat Mosque. The existing structure is a modern recreation of the mosque built in the 13th century and destroyed by the Bolsheviks in 1936. The mosque is today the spiritual center for the region’s Muslims.
