Full description
Visit the Gobustan Museum of Petroglyphs, about 70 kilometers from Baku, to see prehistoric rock drawings, or petroglyphs. On this 5-hour tour you’ll see one of the largest collections in Gobustan, at the Baku State Reserve of History, Ethnography, and Arts. The most significant are the petroglyphs carved by primitive men on walls of caves and on rocks, reflecting the culture, economy, and world outlook of the ancient Azeri people. Continue to the Bibi-Heybat Mosque. The existing structure is a modern recreation of the mosque built in the 13th century and destroyed by the Bolsheviks in 1936. The mosque is today the spiritual center for the region’s Muslims.

We didn't do the mosque but we still enjoyed our morning

We didn't visit the mosque but I just thought we hadn't paid for it and so didn't question. However we thorougly enjoyed it. Road to volcanos is eventful - bumpy and through what looks like a landfill sit but it added to the experience. Our driver was great, the guide at Gobustan spoke excellent English and was very knowledgeable

Good tour but incomplete.

The guide was very good, friendly, he is the owner of the tour company. He knew a lot about the place we visited. Knew a lot about Azerbaijan as well. Very good car. The only inconvenience it was that i saw just the stone age place. No muddy volcanoes, no mosque. The reason it was that the road to volcanos was closed and at the mosque it would have been people praying at 12 on Friday, therefore too crowded. No problem I understood these reason but I still had payed for them when I booked the tour in advance. No refund from anyone. The trip to gobustan was really good. It s a special place. Lots of history.
