Marvel at the incredible wood carvings at Yoke Sone Monastery first, built in 1882 by King Thipaw. Continue to the 150-year old teak monastery of Sarsana Yaungchi, built by King Mindon. Admire the ancient Buddha images and antique cabinets decorated with floral ornaments, as well as typical paintings in gold and silver.

Journey on to the extinct volcano of Mount Popa, best known as a pilgrimage site with numerous Nat temples and relics. Climb the 777 stairs up to the monastery to get fantastic views over the beautiful natural surroundings.

• Please note that Salay Yoke Sone Monastery is closed every Monday. On Mondays the tour will visit Shinpinsarkyo Pagoda instead, which is full of original woodcarvings, some painted fresh in original design
