Full description
This 2.5-hour excursion begins with an introduction to cetaceans (whales and dolphins) and other marine species, their natural habitat, communication, migration and behavioral patterns. After the briefing, board the designated boat and head out to sea. The boat will approach the whales slowly and carefully as the naturalist guides and marine biologists on board provide commentary. The boat trip also includes a tour around the Princess Ring Islet of Vila Franca do Campo, for an up-close look at the volcano and resident wildlife. Light food is permitted on board, and a camera is essential to capture the wildlife you spot on the tour.

Amazing staff! Friendly, chatty and very knowledgeable about the wildlife. The whole team at Terra Azul was very friendly and professional, and from the pickup until we where back again, we felt we were included and guided. Besides showing good knowledge about the area and wildlife, Terra Azul works with different conservation groups and science projects, showing they also care about the wildlife they show, which was a huge plus for me. Would highly recommend taking a trip with Terra Azul!

Terra Azul participate in many environment protecting activities. They lookout for the safety of every person on the boat and get a lot of information for the marine species what we see. In our trip we see a lot of dolphins, but we don't have a chance to see a whale

It was a great experience for the whole family. We were fortunate enough to see a couple of whales and many dolphins. We would do it again and would recommend this trip to others. I also found it great that there was a small detour at the end to see the small island just in front of Vila Franca do Campo (Ilhéu de Vila Franca do Campo). Only downside was that there were some people on the boat blocking the sight for others - here the team could have paid some more attention and shall have enforced the rules that were communicated in the beginning (which were supposed to prevent exactly this). Also during boarding small people could have been seated in the front of the boat and large people in the back.
