Featuring Dagmar, 49

Meet Dagmar Gkountisova, 49, from Slovakia. Living in Prague has always been her dream, and, after calling Germany home for 21 years, she’s operated one of Prague’s top-rated walking tours for the past six years. Her passion for the Czech capital, coupled with her history degree from Prague’s Karl’s University, shines through in her German-speaking tour, which covers everything from the Castle District to the Old Town Square.

What do you love about being a tour guide?

Dagmar: What I love about my job is that I can share my passion for Prague while meeting new, friendly people. The city is beautiful, and its history is super interesting.

What can people expect from your tour?

Dagmar: My tours are informative, but there’s still time for a joke and a bit of fun!  It’s not like being in school.

What’s your most memorable moment from a tour?

Dagmar: There are lots of moments that I love on my tour. For example, it’s always memorable when my customers tell me they never imagined seeing so many things in Prague!

What’s your favorite place to visit on your tour?

Dagmar: Every tour guide has their own favorite place. For me, it’s St. Nikolaus Church, which is located in the Old Town. The church symbolizes Czech bravery and the fight for the truth. Prague is full of surprises. It offers everything from Medieval alleyways and modern art to delicious Czech cuisine, romantic walks, and boat rides on the Vltava. You simply have to visit!
