Brilliant day trip to 4 unique wineries - Thierry was a brilliant guide and driver, very patient and informative. His recommendations for wine were great and we all drank an enormous amount of wine - reds, whites and rosé. Lunch was lovely and perfectly timed. I only wish I had more time to travel up to the Rhône Nord region and Crozes-Hermitage but that will be e for the next trip back to France. Fantastic tour. A must if you like wine 😁!
We were lucky to be the only two people on the tour, and to have David as our tour guide. He taught us so much about the various categories of wines, the grapes and their specific qualities, and how the terroir plays a huge part in the final product. Of course, the different methods of storage and the types of barrels used also affects the taste. There were many wine tastings and each one was amazing and very informative. We also had a chance to visit very old wine cellars (which had interesting stories) and get a good understanding of the wine making process. We also learned about the different philosophies that producers can have, and the freedom for being creative, as long as they follow the rules for producing the particular grades of wines. We were driven to a beautiful castle/restaurant for gourmet lunch, overlooking rolling hills and vineyards. This was a perfect way to end our France vacation. If you can ask for a tour guide, ask for David!
