Lavender and villages in Luberon: this tour will take you to the Luberon region famous for the beautiful landscape and the old perched villages built with dry stones and to the lavender museum to learn more about the emblematic flower of Provence.
What to Expect
This half day tour will take you to one of the most popular area in Provence and south of France: you'll be driven across a very nice landscape with many kinds of crops , vineyards and fruit trees before you stop and discover some of the most picturesque hilltop villages in the Luberon region, villages which rank among the most beautiful villages of France:

Roussillon, built on top of an ochre cliff (ochre is a natural pigment which can be found in the soil and which is used for the painting and decoration of the houses): you'll stroll in the narrow streets of this colourfull village, then 15min from there, you'll be at another village, Gordes, entirely built with dry stones coming from the mountain; this village offers an amazing view from its west side and gives the visitor a very good example of a perched village built at the foot of its castle built in the XI century and rebuilt in the XVI century and its church.

On Tuesdays, enjoy the provençal market around the castle of Gordes with all the products which are part of Provence, such as fruits, olive oil, wine, goat cheese, lavender, etc..

The tour will end with a full visit at the lavender Museum where you'll learn more about Lavendel, the famous aromatic plant which grows wild in the mountains around: after a film which shows how to grow the plant, the harvest and the distillation process, you'll see the still exhibition and can buy the products elaborated with the essential oil of lavender, product 100% natural coming from the farm "Le Chateau du Bois".

From June 15th to July 15th, the visit of the lavender museum is replaced by Sénanque Abbey.
