Visit Pont du Gard, one of the world’s best-preserved examples of Roman ingenuity. Its chequered history has also inspired numerous artists. The 2,000-year-old section of the Roman aqueduct once provided water to Nîmes. The highly photographed bridge was listed by UNESCO in 1985 as a World Heritage Site. Located between Montpellier, Marseille, and Avignon, this site is a real landmark of Provence and the south of France. With your ticket, gain access to the first level of the bridge, the museum, and the film to discover more about the history of the Ludo area specially designed for children, the open-air walk Mémoires de Garrigue, and the temporary exhibitions. Until October 1, 2023, dive into a world where the transparent meets the tangible with the temporary exhibition Light as Space! Explore the captivating works of artist Yasuhiro Chida. Discover the fascinating world of this renowned Japanese artist, through a one-of-a-kind immersive experience. The artist has created a universe where illusion and reality merge, inviting the public to interact with his bewitching and captivating installations. Pont du Gard is delighted to announce our brand new temporary exhibition entitled "Under the Pixels, Matter", which will be held on site from September 14, 2024 and until January 5, 2025 for the general public. This exhibition will highlight the work of four talented international artists, each exploring the intersection between digital art and material forms. Here is an overview of the works and artists presented: - Mona Young-Eun Kim: 5 works will be scattered in different outdoor spaces, on the Left Bank. These geometric totems will include QR codes allowing an augmented reality experience via smartphone. - Nicolas Tourte: 4 works will be exhibited in the dedicated exhibition room, as well as another at the reception. Her works are 3D structures, on which projections will be made. - Regina Silveira: A pioneer of digital art in Brazil, she will present two works in video-mapping in the exhibition room. - Ana Tavares: She will offer two video-mapping installations in the exhibition room, accompanied by a series of photographs. The exhibition will be accessible to all thanks to a free tour, with some works installed outside the interior spaces. This is included in the ticket price for the cultural spaces on sale. This completes the offer in the intermediate season for our visitors.
