Your circular walk begins and ends at the Botirões Bridge over the picturesque Botirões Canal surrounded by color-full typical houses. The route takes you through the southern part of the traditional Beira Mar village, where you’ll wander narrow lanes before reaching Rossio Square and strolling along the Central Canal, home to some of the city’s most iconic Art Nouveau houses.
Your tour continues past the Town Hall, winding through some of Aveiro’s oldest streets until you arrive at Marquês de Pombal Square. A few steps away, explore the historic and highly recommended Aveiro Museum - Santa Joana, located within the Jesus Convent. Next, head to the Côjo Canal, where a round-trip walk brings you to Park Fonte-Nova and the historic Old Captainship of the Port of Aveiro. From here, enter the northern side of the Beira Mar neighborhood, passing through Praça 14 de Julho, Largo da Praça do Peixe, and the charming Cais dos Botirões. The route ends with a crossing of the São Roque Canal, before returning to the starting point.
