Full description
Discover the unparalleled beauty in the Clos Normand and Japanese Water gardens of Claude Monet, in Giverny. You’ll feel as though you’ve stepped into one of his Impressionist paintings as you walk among the willow trees and cross the little green bridge over his pond of water lilies. Then you’ll explore the inside of his colorful family home, getting some unique access to whether the artists actually lived and worked. After your visit of Claude Monet’s home and gardens you’ll stop at his tomb to pay your respects to this great man in person. Afterwards, you’ll be off to visit the town of Auvers-sur-Oise where you’ll focus on the troubled life and amazing Post Impressionist art of Vincent Van Gogh. You’ll visit the boarding house where Vincent lived the last 3-months of his life. Next, explore the little town and surrounding area which inspired 77 of his paintings. You’ll visit the gothic “Church of Auvers” and walk in the actual “Wheat Field with Crows”. Seeing these places with your own eyes will help you to understand why Vincent Van Gogh found so much inspiration in Auvers-sur-Oise. You’ll also visit Van Gogh’s final resting place; a humble ivy covered grave site.

Outstanding guided tour

Our guide, J.B., was fantastic, incredibly fluent in both French and English. He was first of all an excellent driver. Secondly, he was very knowledgeable and well prepared. Thirdly, he was a very pleasant person to spend the day with. The gardens and home of Monet, and the town of Auvers-sur-Oise were delightful. We would highly recommend this tour.

Gardens and history

Great day in the country visiting two key artist locations. Our guide, Micole, organized everything to make the day relaxing and informative. Arriving early about 9am we were in Monet’s garden before the crowds . The gardens are spectacular and while the house tour can be crowded, it is still a special place to visit. Auvers was a nice town to visit with a couple of restaurants to try but we opted for a sandwich at the local boulangerie and sat in the town square . Walking in the wheat fields above the town and visiting Vincent and Theo’s grave site was moving. It is a long day but very doable, as entrance tickets and timing are all planned out. Just relax and take in the beauty of the area.

Great tour, great guide! At 22 and 24 my friend and I were some of the youngest on the tour but it was a wonderful day with wonderful weather! Beautiful walking tour for part of the trip and some beautiful country side from the van. Worth doing the smaller group!
