What to Expect
Embark on an action-packed 2-day tour from Auckland that takes you to visit the famous attractions in New Zealand's Waitomo and Rotorua regions, as well as Taupo ̶ a vibrant town on the shores of the country's largest volcanic lake.

Enjoy tea and biscuits as you set out from Auckland to travel through Waikato, New Zealand's largest dairy and sheep farming province. Arrive at the Waitomo Glowworm Caves and join a guided tour through this world-famous cave formation, climaxed by drifting silently in a boat through a cavern lit up with the light of thousands of tiny glowworms.

Afterward, be treated to a boxed lunch aboard the bus as you make your way to Rotorua. On arrival, you'll be introduced to New Zealand farming with a 45-minute ATV tour of an authentic working farm. Watch a sheep being shorn, hand-feed the animals, and finish with a sheep dog trial. You'll then take a drive around Lake Rotorua and Government Gardens on your way to Te Puia, where you'll enjoy a 45-minute Maori cultural performance of the Poi, Haka, and Tititorea stick dance.

Then visit one of Rotorua's most famous attractions, the Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve and Maori Arts and Crafts Institute before enjoying your choice of a buffet dinner at the Heritage Hotel, or being entertained with a traditional Maori concert while dining on a sumptuous selection of food prepared by local Maori. Your overnight accommodations will be at a 4-star hotel located close to the geothermal activity of Whakarewarewa.

The next day, visit the Wai-O-Tapu Thermal Wonderland and watch an eruption of Lady Knox Geyser. Then follow the marked trails to see the boiling mud pools: the Champagne Pool, Devil's Cauldron, and the colorful Artist's Palette. Travel through Tahukuri, the largest man-made forest in the Southern Hemisphere, to arrive at the Aratiatia Rapids. Admire the spectacle as the flood gates of the Waikato River are opened before seeing the Huka Falls, formed where the Waikato River narrows from 100 meters to just 15 meters in width. Stop for lunch beside Lake Taupo, the largest lake in Australasia. Then head to the Wairakei Steam Fields and feel the energy of nature as the venting steam is captured for the generation of electricity.
