What to Expect
The Coromandel Peninsula Deluxe Tour From Auckland gives you a full day to explore a New Zealand covered with steep hills, lush temperate rainforest and compelling beach escapes just a 90-minute drive outside of Auckland.

After pick-up at your Auckland hotel, you will get scenic views of the Bombay Hills and fertile Hauraki Plains before crossing the new Kopu Bridge. Stop briefly in Thames for coffee (not included in tour price), and learn about the mid-19th century gold mining and kauri logging that took place here from your tour guide.

Take photos of the breathtaking Pohutukawa Coastline before reaching Coromandel Township, a popular holiday destination for New Zealanders. Here you will glimpse the culture of this quaint town, which is known for its arts, crafts and residents who live alternative lifestyles.

Next, you will observe a unique mountain railway system that was designed and built by a well-known New Zealand potter, Barry Brickell. Nearby you can ogle at replanted kauri trees, a native tree to New Zealand noted for its size, and appreciate views of several large aqueducts that climb to the mountaintops. The next stop includes walking through some of the pristine rainforest that the Coromdandel Peninsula is known for, including some old growth kauri trees that connect you to hundreds of years of history.

Leave the forest for the Coromandel's east coast beaches, where you will stop for lunch at a local cafe. Also visit Cathedral Cove, where the Pacific Ocean washes onto a beach of white sand through a natural arch. Take a 30-minute walk to the beach where you will be amazed at the views. (This walk requires moderate walking ability downhill and uphill and is subject to guide descretion.)

Continue exploring the beaches of the Coromandel Peninsula with a stop at Hot Water Beach, which has a hot spring right in the middle of the beach that you can take a dip in! Afterward, you will return to Auckland along a different route, for a different sightseeing experience.
