This is an excellent museum, well designed, spacious and with outstanding exhibits which tell the story of Auckland’s history, the Polynesian and Māori people as well as the history and tragedy of war. I spent over 1.5 hours in the museum. Highly recommended to everyone visiting and living in New Zealand.

We spent our multi-hour airport layover visiting the Auckland War Memorial Museum, and it was such a nourishing use of our time. The space carries the essence of Māori architecture and provides plenty of ways to engage in shared knowledge of the physical, cultural, and socioeconomic formations of New Zealand.
