Full description

Explore Argolis and its archaeological sites on a guided tour by van or bus. See Mycenae, the Lion's Gate, Nafplio, and more as you learn about their history. Tuck into a delicious local lunch (if you select the option) in Mycenae and taste local flavors.

Leave by the coastal road along the Saronic Gulf to the Corinth Canal, which connects the Aegean Sea with the Ionian Sea. Drive to Mycenae, the Homeric city of Atreides, the city "rich in gold" of the ancient poets.

Visit the Lion's Gate, the Cyclopean walls, the royal tombs, and so forth. Depart for Nafplio through the fertile plain of Argolis, the picturesque town nestling at the foot of a cliff crowned by the mighty ramparts of the Palamidi Fortress.

Find numerous interesting spots of attractions all over Argolis. Leave for Epidauros to visit the 4th-century BC theatre famous for its astonishing acoustics. Return to Athens by the National road connecting Epidauros with Corinth. Enjoy lunch in Mycenae.

Trip done in December, not too busy on the bus. Guide is fine, very involved in the trip, tells Van everything about the destination, Greece, the gods, etcetera. At the places where we stopped you could visit the places in little time. Too little time for extensive viewing. Excursions are easily walkable. We did not include lunch, but ordered it separately on the spot, which turned out to be a good move. Great trip especially in this quiet period.

Photo stop of 30mn at the Corinth Canal before the visit of the theater of Epidaurus 60mn and partly commented by our guide. Then Nafplion stop of 30mn far too short for our taste. Direction then to Mycenae 60mn on the site and more with the tomb. Stop at the restaurant of Mycenae 45mn, option that we had not chosen. Nothing around except 2/3 restaurants at the edge of a deserted road; it is the disappointment of this excursion which could have been grandiose if the restaurant had been in Nauplia. Another stop in a jewelry and pottery trade with tasting of a local alcohol. The guide was perfect throughout the trip with her commentary, as was the driver.

Very nice day. Stop at the Corinth Canal for a few minutes. Great ! Then direction Epidaure and its magnificent theatre. Perfect time on site. Then Nafplio. Unfortunately stop much too short, we take a few steps and we return to the bus. While there are things to do and plenty of restaurants on the port. But direction Mycenes for a lunch in a huge average restaurant in the middle of nothing. What a shame. On the way back, stop in a shop, average interest. We preferred to take more time in Nafplion, including lunch. But it's worth it !
