Full description

Discover the ruins of the city of Mycenae on a day trip from Athens. Explore the archeological site, home to the Lionesses Gate, and the tomb of King Agamemnon. Afterwards, make a short stop in the village of Epidaurus and see its Hellenic theatre.

Drive along the scenic coastal road of the Saronic Gulf, and arrive at the archeological site of Mycenae. Explore the historical setting for much of ancient Greek literature, including the works of the poet Homer.

Continue with a brief stop in Nauplia, the first capital of modern Greece and home to the fortress of Palamidi.

After enjoying a relaxing lunch, head to the nearby village of Epidaurus, home to the World Heritage, is listed as an ancient theatre and is believed by ancient Greeks to be the birthplace of Apollo’s son Asklepios. The theatre at Epidaurus is perhaps the best-preserved theatre of ancient Greece.

Beautiful excursion, which allows you to immerse yourself in history. The guide was really exhaustive in the explanations he gave us. It is a pity that we arrived at the Epidaurus site only an hour before closing (which is at 5pm in winter) and we were not able to visit it in full.

Very good organization. The guide Effi was very interesting, she gave a lot of explanations to better understand the sites visited. You have to balance the free time well because the site of Epidaurus is large and an hour is quite tight. It is better to look at the plan at home. There is an exit that goes directly into the car park towards the back of the site. This avoids having to turn back to exit through the entrance. The driver Asteris drove very well and is kind. The bus is clean and comfortable. There is free wifi. We have headphones to listen to the guide. I strongly recommend this activity. A small downside: explanations in English only even if English was accessible because the guide spoke quite slowly. While I signed up for a day with a guide speaking both French and English languages. But it was possible to ask him for explanations in French if necessary.

-Don't book if you expect someone to speak a little bit of French to you…fortunately we understood English correctly. -if you want to take your time on the sites, stop listening to the guide who only stays in one place (a choice? Lazy?) and take your turn if you don't want to miss 2/3 or run to do the rest. -pleasantly surprised by the meal -tiring day but we are happy. Of course everything is done quickly but on one day, we expected it. -stop at the corinth and nafplio canal, fast but we discover that more.
