It’s a long trip from Athens. But well worth it if you have an extra day. Everything worked smoothly. The e ticket for the train came by email with good instructions. At the station look for the train number and then the coach number. The guide was waiting for the train when it arrived. A very nice driver and guide in a very clean, new looking vehicle. The trip visited 3 monasteries inside at an extra 3 Euros each, with plenty of stops for photos and views. Take snacks as places to buy them are limited and there’s no real meal opportunity until maybe 45 minutes before catching the train back to Athens.

If you waver whether or not a day trip from Athens to Meteora is worth it - think no further. It is! This is such a unique place and the tour is fantastic. You get to see 3 out of 6 still operating monasteries from inside, get enough time to explore and great explanations along the way. Our guide Evelina took very good care of me and the other guests and I would fully recommend her!

We loved the place and the trip itself. Very interesting and beautiful places. Also learned a lot about the history and facts of that place. The trip by train was fine, comfortable. The pick up at Kalambaka station was very convenient. The guide and the bus driver were both experienced in what they were doing. There were initially some problems with the mic I guess, so we couldnt really hear anything at first. We were given around 1 hour to see each monastety. It was enough, but you had to run around a bit, so wouldnt be good for people, who cannot rush and go up and down the stairs. All in all were pleased with out trip and dont regeret going there.
