Full description
Meet your guide at the Halandri Metro Station and journey to Delphi via bus. As you drive towards Delphi, you’ll see the sacred site emerge from two terraced rocks known as Fedriades.  Discover what the ancient Greeks called “the navel of the earth.” Visit the Oracle of Delphi, the holiest site in ancient Greece. For centuries, great figures of ancient history such as Alexander the Great and Cicero sought out the high priestess of Delphi’s divine prophecy. The Oracle would sit upon a tripod above a massive chasm. As she burned barley meal and laurel she would enter a divine trance and then serve as a medium to the god Apollo. Drink water from the sacred Castalia spring. Explore the archaeological museum of Delphi, and see artifacts from the Archaic through the Roman era, including the Sphinx of the Naxians, the Iniohos, and the statue of Antinoos. Afterward, enjoy a delicious homemade lunch at a nearby restaurant. Before returning to Athens, see the picturesque village of Arachova nestled in the foothills of Mt. Parnassus.

We went to see the oracle Pythia! Theodore was our tour guide - a PhD candidate in history, so he knows a LOT of interesting things. The sites are amazing, I won’t review them - the tour itself is as advertised on the website. I enjoyed the commentary as much as the sites. Ask for Theodore, take the tour. You won’t regret it!

I really enjoyed the small group setting, it‘s like having a local friend take you exploring the area. Bill is a great tour guide; he’s knowledgeable and very friendly, and he really made sure everyone in the group was entertained and attended to. The tour was flexible and very nicely organized.

Our guide Athina (might have spelled that wrong sorryy) was super nice, she gave us great info and answered all of our questions, she was also a great driver btw. The Delphi archeological site was pretty impressive and we were lucky enough to have such a beautiful sunny day in November. Overall it was a nice and fun trip, and it was good to escape busy Athens for a day. I would recommend this tour to anybody wanting to know more about Greek Ancient culture and archeology. 10/10
