Full description

Explore the most famous sights of ancient Greece on a full-day guided mythology-inspired tour. Ignite your imagination with mythical tales of the culture and history of Delphi. Learn about the Oracle, ancient ruins like the amphitheater, and the Temple of Apollo, and immerse yourself in local history.

Depart from Athens and travel to Delphi, located on the spur of Mount Parnassus. On your way, admire the Greek countryside and cross into the land of King Oedipus, a tragic mythical hero whose fate was determined after receiving a message from the Oracle from Delphi.

Start with a coffee break in Livadia. Once you’ve arrived in Delphi, visit the theater and enjoy the views of the surrounding mountains. Gain insight into the world of the Ancient Greeks. Visit the Temple of Apollo and learn all about common ancient rituals.

After the exploration of the Delphi site, discover the stories behind some of the most important artifacts of antiquity in the Museum of Delphi. Marvel at the unique bronze Charioteer, the Naxian Sphinx, and the Statue of Antinoos, which provide insight into ancient Greek culture and history.

After a lunch break, visit the Athena Pronaia Sanctuary, the most photographed spot in Delphi. Head back to Athens via the beautiful mountain village of Arachova, situated on the hills of the Parnassus Mountains where the tour will stop for a short photo opportunity.

Booked this trip last minute for 2 adults and 2 teenagers. The guide was lovely and very knowledgeable. The only negative I would say is, there were a few times the tour felt a bit rushed. I would have loved more time to enjoy the site on my own but only had 40 minutes to do this and then walk to the museum to meet the guide.

This was an amazing day. Delphi site is unique , the atmosphere , the energy of the place, the views and cannot be better presented by Marianna. Her way to bring the myths alive is unspeakable. A visit in places with so many histories and myths should be always be with a professional guide otherwise you miss a lot, if not all. I loved the tour. Thank you Marianna, GYG and Key tours.

The activity was very organized! We were picked up from our hotel and dropped off. Our tour guide Costas was fantastic! He studied archeology and was very knowledgeable. We did not purchase the optional lunch package but when you are with the group you are able to eat lunch at the same location à la carte. This is a definite must do!
