Full description

Explore the most famous sights of ancient Greece on this guided day trip to magical Delphi. Spend an entire day learning about the oracle and discovering ancient ruins including the amphitheater and the Temple of Apollo.

Your tour departs from Athens, from where you will travel to Delphi, located on the spur of Mount Parnassus, making a short rest stop outside the town of Levadia. Arrive in Delphi, and visit the famous theater, where you will enjoy spectacular views of the surrounding mountains, and get an insight into the world of the Ancient Greeks. Visit the Temple of Apollo, the center of Ancient Greece, and best-known for its famous oracle. Tour the Museum of Delphi, home to a unique bronze Charioteer, the Naxian Sphinx, and the Statue of Antinoos, providing an amazing insight into Ancient Greek culture and history.

After a lunch break, visit Athena Pronaia Sanctuary (depending on the local authority's permission), the most photographed spot in Delphi.

Then, head back to Athens via the beautiful mountain village of Arachova, situated on the hills of the Parnassus Mountains, where the tour will stop for a short photo opportunity.

The journey to Delphi was not heavy, with a short stop just before arriving at the archaeological site, the driver drove well. Despite the tight schedule, the guide explained to us in a clear and exhaustive way the most important works of the museum and the key points of the archaeological site. There are two reasons why I cannot give 5 stars: the first, the guide, despite being super competent and very well prepared, was very little empathetic and engaging with us visitors (I don't even know his name); the second, we were given only 15 minutes to explore the archaeological area of the actual sanctuary, below the temple of Apollo, as there was a lot of rush on the part of the guide to take the group to the restaurant (we opted for the option without lunch).

We had taken the excursion without a guide and without a meal, in the end having to follow the guide instead of doing what we wanted (therefore no need to pay more for a guide..) and for the meal it was in a remote place, the Symposium restaurant further than Delphi so in the end if you have nothing to bring upstream you will have no other choice to eat there..

LOVED IT SO GOOD! The tour guide was very informative and the views are very beautiful would recommend my friends to do this if they ever came to Athens! We had lots of photo stops and it was very convenient getting the provided lunch as we didn’t have to worry about ordering food or paying for it afterwards. Just keep in mind that drinks are not included in the lunch if you don’t get tapwater. The lunch was really worth the money because it had appetizers, a main course, and dessert- I have very extreme allergies and the restaurant was very accommodating of that as well which is nice.
