Looking for a break from the city vibes, we set out to discover the natural beauty surrounding Athens. Luckily, we stumbled upon Nomadspath Adventures! These guys were the friendliest tour guides you could ever hope to meet. They were like instant friends with their warm and welcoming vibe. We decided to join their small group sunset hike on Hymettus Mountain. And it was an absolute blast. Along the way, we chatted and laughed, soaking in the breathtaking views and learning so much from our guide, Michael, who enlightened us about the area's flora, geological wonders, historical significance, and even introduced us to Greek language and cuisine. It was such a lovely evening and the perfect way to wrap up our one-week adventure in Greece. We can't recommend Nomadspath Adventures enough! They made our trip truly memorable.

Full description

Mount Hymettus, one of the three mountains of Attica, stands on the east side of Attica and divides Athens and Messogia Area. Its total area covers 80.000 acres. Hymettus has been well known since the ancient years as Athenians used to have more than one ancient temple in the area.
During our 2,30 -hour sunset hike, the travelers will have a short break from the city noise, enjoy breathtaking Sunset views, walk through beautiful pine forest paths, and visit some of the Historical Monuments of the Mountain. An excellent opportunity for everyone as the Hike combines nature and history without any previous hiking experience needed.

Church of Agios Marcos Frangomonastirio
Continuing on the botanical walk of Mount Immitos we will reach the open ruins of the Church of Agios Marcos Frangomonastirio.

The site has remains of a 10th-century Byzantine church built on the foundations of a fifth-century three-aisled Christian basilica. You can walk through it and check it out up close.

We (my husband and daughter of 12 y.o.) had a Sunset hike in Athens with Dimitris, and I must say that this is one of our most memorable experiences in Athens. The hike started at 18:30, and we had in total 5.3 km hike. Some paths are a bit elevated, so non-slippery shows are advisable, but the hike was easy, safe and in a moderate pace. We enjoyed the nature and Dimitris' stories about Greece, Athens and his experiences with active holidays in the nature. On the way, we have spotted a turtle, a nice bird and even a fox. And we reached the view point for the sunset watching just in time. And it was unforgettable! Thank you Dimitris for this hike and your inspiration!
