Explore Athen's food markets on a 4-hour walking tour. Taste delicious treats and visit local stores selling the "Green Treasures" of Greece, such as olive oil, wines, mushrooms, herbs, and traditionally made pasta and salamis. Start with a traditional Greek breakfast of koulóuria (sesame bread rings) in a century-old café. Continue to a tiny pastry shop to sample loukoumades (Greek donuts) and custard-filled filo squares. Enjoy local pies and cheeses at authentic Greek bakeries and cheese stores. Next, wander through the famous meat and fish markets. Try roasted home-grown coffee and visit specialty shops for their fresh fruit, olives, cheese, ham, and other deli produce. Enjoy local wine, organically produced olive oil and honey, aged aromatized vinegar, and world-famous Greek yogurt produced at family farms. Wander down Evripidou Street, scented by herbs. End your culinary exploration at the deli stores in the historic city center, where your guide will make you complimentary gifts to bring home.

We booked this tour on our first full day in Greece and it was an amazing day to stroll around Athens and get to know the local cuisine. Our tour guide, Dorella, was fabulous and funny, and made the four-hour tour extremely fun. Definitely come hungry and prepared to try all kinds of different foods. I do wish more COVID safety protocols were in place, such as giving each guide hand wipes to pass out to participants before each tasting and encouraging hand washing prior to snacking. We were a bit surprised that was not included in the time, but had a great time nonetheless!

Amazing tour and well worth doing! Katherine was our tour guide and she was faultless. Flawless English and great fun the whole way through. My wife was a veggie but there was plenty for her to eat - just give the tour guide a heads up. Four hours flew by and you'll definitely end up full!

We met in the square and made our way around the neighborhood tasting different Greek foods. It was a tasting and we were not entirely full at the end. Of the many things we tried, we enjoyed the Greek coffee, honeyed doughnuts, and charcuterie & hummus from the deli. It was nice to walk around with a local who was familiar with the area and foods.
