Pass street art in the birthplace of graffiti, and wander through the streets of Psiri to learn about one of the coolest, anti-establishment neighborhoods in a former leather craftsmen’s district. Find cool bars, galleries, and theaters full of the young.
Watch the butchers and fishmongers at Athens Public Market, and savor the aromas of spice shops and cheese stores. Visit the 2 working class restaurants in the meat market, and the secret underground restaurant at the vegetable market. Explore the most interesting road in Athens, full of plant and seed, and herb and spice stores.
Pass through Kotzia Square on the way to Exarheia. See the National Technical University of Athens, and hear how it became a symbol of the revolt against the dictatorship in 1973. Wander among the university students of Exarheia, before strolling down Panepistimiou street to the National University and National Library.
