As others have written, everything is visible from the outside except for the Acropolis. We bought a combined ticket, but just entering the Acropolis would be enough. I recommend buying tickets on the spot as they are commission free - € 20 for the Acropolis and € 30 for the combined one. Except that not at the Acropolis, because there are long queues, but at any other attractions, such as the Roman Agora, the Athenian Agora, etc. (which are on the way to the Acropolis anyway).

The Acropolis combo ticket is an excellent way to see the ancient sights in Athens. We used it to visit the Acropolis and 5 of the other sites in 5 days so it was excellent value. It was very useful to skip the line for the Acropolis which had a long queue even at 8am when we arrived
