Full description
Travel back in time on an informative and fun tour of the Acropolis of Athens. Be guided by a field expert and licensed archaeologist. Discover the UNESCO World Heritage site through a journey into history, mythology, and storytelling. Continue with a visit to the Acropolis Museum, which has been ranked as one of the top museums in the world. All the original surviving masterpieces from the temples of the Acropolis are displayed with the use of natural light. Excavations are also visible under glass floors and walkways. The museum was designed by the renowned Swiss architect Bernard Tschumi and the notable Greek architect Michalis Photiadis. Visit the Acropolis hill. See the Dionysus Theater, where famous ancient dramas and tragedies were first performed. Walk around the stunning Odeon of Herodes Atticus and the sanctuary of the healing god Asclepius. On the top of the hill, visit the Propylea Temple of Nike and the Erechtheion Temple. See the Parthenon, which is the symbol of democracy and western civilization. Dating back to 5th century, these monuments are testimonials of the glorious ancient Athens and the Golden Age of Pericles. At the Acropolis Museum, explore the ground floor where exhibited artifacts reveal facets of the Athenian daily life. Get to know wedding customs, children's favorite toys, healing techniques, and religious practices. On the first floor, stand at a breathing distance from the mysterious archaic statues of the 6th century, which once adorned the Acropolis. Be fascinated as you walk next to the Caryatids and huge pieces of the Acropolis entrance. On the final floor, next to the breathtaking view of the Acropolis, admire the original unique in concept and artistic excellence Parthenon frieze.

One cannot visit Athens and NOT go on a tour of the Acropolis. We had a really fun time exploring, and our guide Alexia was so nice and knowledgeable... we really appreciated her explanations and the things she was pointing out to us, not just on the site but what we could see from the top. She also gave us some recommendations for other things to do in the city, and was interested in learning about us, which was above and beyond what we expected. The museum was really interesting, but the walk up to and around the Acropolis itself is truly amazing. If you only want to do one organized tour in Athens, make it this one.

Fantastic tour - even though there was just 2 of us (due to covid) it wasn't cancelled & we were able to experience a private tour of the almost empty Acropolis. Alex was a brilliant guide, always making sure we were comfortable in the heat & taking photos for us too. She was extremely knowledgeable and clearly very passionate about the area.

Alexia is a wonderful guide. With a lot of knowledge, fun and anecdotes, she brings the highlight of every visit to Athens up close to her guests. Even our teenage daughters (14 and 16) were fascinated by their stories. We even had a private tour as it is so empty in Athens right now. Alexia was very responsive to us. Visiting the museum after the Acropolis is the better order. Fascinating the detailed structure. Alexia even gave us a small tour of a particularly picturesque part of Athens. Outstanding!
