Full description

Travel back in time on an informative and fun tour of the Acropolis of Athens. Guided by a field expert and licensed tour guide, discover the UNESCO World Heritage site through a journey into history, mythology, and storytelling.

Continue with a visit to the Acropolis Museum, which has been ranked as one of the top museums in the world. All the original surviving masterpieces from the temples of the Acropolis are displayed with the use of natural light. Excavations are also visible under glass floors and walkways. Visit Acropolis hill. See the Dionysus Theater, where famous ancient dramas and tragedies were first performed. Walk around the stunning Odeon of Herodes Atticus and the sanctuary of the healing god Asclepius.

On the top of the hill, visit the Propylea Temple of Nike and the Erechtheion Temple. See the Parthenon, which is the symbol of democracy and western civilization. Dating back to the 5th-century, these monuments are testimonials of the glorious ancient Athens and the Golden Age of Pericles. At the Acropolis Museum, explore the ground floor where exhibited artifacts reveal facets of the Athenian daily life. Get to know wedding customs, children's favorite toys, healing techniques, and religious practices.

On the first floor, stand at a breathing distance from the mysterious archaic statues of the 6th century, which once adorned the Acropolis. Be fascinated as you walk next to the Caryatids and huge pieces of the Acropolis entrance.

On the final floor, next to the breathtaking view of the Acropolis, admire the original unique concept and artistic excellence Parthenon frieze.

I highly recommend Athenian Tours to see the Acropolis. Our scheduled tour happened to be on the day Greece went on strike. They recommended to cancel to avoid an incomplete experience. I asked to reschedule for the next day and they accommodated, even though it was just me and my friend. Alexia was our guide and she was amazing! She's an archaeologist as well. She was engaging, so nice, and had such a positive vibe the entire time. You just can't do better (and I've been through lots of tours). Highly reccommend Alexia!

Whole experience from booking to end of the tour was so well organised. Communications from the moment I booked with details on where to meet. Our guide was Alexia and she was amazing, so passionate about what she was telling us and it totally brought it all to life. Starting with the tour of the museum is genius as you have all the background on what you're seeing before you head up the Acropolis Worth every euro. Thanks Alexia as well for the gyros restaurant recommendation they were delicious.

The best tour we’ve been on and that’s mainly because of our amazing tour guide Alexia! She wasn’t just a tour guide that recites a script, she was passionate about the sites, history and culture which showed throughout the tour. The tour came with these devices with disposable headphones which allowed us to listen to Alexia when she was far away so we never missed a thing. She was very considerate and chose shaded spots when stopping to talk to us and had a great system of exploring the museum and Acropolis. We particularly loved her accent which was easy to follow and understand. Thanks Alexia for the tour and the amazing recommendations for Athens! Whoever is Alexia’s boss, giver her a raise!
