Full description

Travel back in time on an informative and fun tour of the Acropolis of Athens. Guided by a field expert and licensed tour guide, discover the UNESCO World Heritage site through a journey into history, mythology, and storytelling.

Continue with a visit to the Acropolis Museum, which has been ranked as one of the top museums in the world. All the original surviving masterpieces from the temples of the Acropolis are displayed with the use of natural light. Excavations are also visible under glass floors and walkways. Visit Acropolis hill. See the Dionysus Theater, where famous ancient dramas and tragedies were first performed. Walk around the stunning Odeon of Herodes Atticus and the sanctuary of the healing god Asclepius.

On the top of the hill, visit the Propylea Temple of Nike and the Erechtheion Temple. See the Parthenon, which is the symbol of democracy and western civilization. Dating back to the 5th-century, these monuments are testimonials of the glorious ancient Athens and the Golden Age of Pericles. At the Acropolis Museum, explore the ground floor where exhibited artifacts reveal facets of the Athenian daily life. Get to know wedding customs, children's favorite toys, healing techniques, and religious practices.

On the first floor, stand at a breathing distance from the mysterious archaic statues of the 6th century, which once adorned the Acropolis. Be fascinated as you walk next to the Caryatids and huge pieces of the Acropolis entrance.

On the final floor, next to the breathtaking view of the Acropolis, admire the original unique concept and artistic excellence Parthenon frieze.

My wife and I participated in this tour on our honeymoon and absolutely loved it! Where to begin? We loved how easy it was - we didn't have to wait in line at all and the only thing we had to worry about was getting to the designated meeting place on time. Everything was communicated very well leading up to the tour, we knew exactly where to go and what to do. The tour itself was a ton of fun! We loved seeing the museum before the actual Acropolis, it is so fascinating! Our guide, Andrea, did a fantastic job the whole time explaining the rich history. I especially liked how she explained the story in the museum, because while reading the signs by every statue is nice, her stories and explanations were well worth the price. Going through the museum in this guided way is the way to go! We also loved the Acropolis itself. It was well-paced in the hike up to it, and again we enjoyed Andrea's tour.

Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. My friend and I greatly enjoyed his tour. My only complaint is that my headset didn’t work and I couldn’t get a new one. I had to just try to stay extra close to the guide the entire time, which was challenging and it was hard to hear a lot of things that way.

Seeing the Acropolis was a bucket list moment for me, but I was not expecting the museum to be so incredible. Will definitely do this again on my next trip to Athens. Our guide, Alexis took us on an in-depth journey through the history of Athens and the Acropolis. All I can say is wow, her passion and knowledge made this tour for us. I highly recommend going as early as possible to avoid large crowds.
