Visit the incredible Abu Simbel temples from Aswan. Transfer in private air-conditioned vehicle to these UNESCO saved temples built by Ramses II.
What to Expect
The Temples at Abu Simbel inspire with their massive stone structures and incredible examples of New Kingdom architecture. Today, you will have a chance to visit them on a day trip from Asawn.
The 300km (186mi) trip takes approximately 3 hours by car, and during your time you will see incredible desert landscapes and small villages. Once you arrive at the temples, your guide will help open your eyes to the mysteries of these UNESCO designated sights. The Egyptian government and UNESCO have even saved these temples from being inundated by the waters of Nile so that you can appreciate them today.
The temples are built of sandstone, and your guide will point out which deities each represents. Built for Ramses II (XIX Dynasty) as a lasting monument to himself and his queen Nefertari, to commemorate his alleged victory at the Battle of Kadesh, and to intimidate his Nubian neighbors.
The tour ends with a return trip to Aswan and a hotel drop off.
