The Asturian coast hides many treasures bathed by the Cantabrian Sea. And we invite you to meet many of them with local expert guides and small groups, so that you can spend an unforgettable and spectacular day while falling in love a little more with the charms of Asturias. Starting from Oviedo at 08:30 and leaving Gijón at 09:00, you will embark on a sensational journey whose first stop is in Luarca. In this first seaside village where we will stop, in the municipality of Valdés, you will be able to discover a privileged environment where the sea and the mountains merge. This beautiful town offers all its visitors a multitude of leisure and entertainment plans. We will walk the streets that saw the birth of Nobel Prize in Medicine Severo Ochoa, an authentic reference, of which the village still has many memories. In addition, we will visit the spectacular Plaza Miares and the Ermita de La Regalina, one of the jewels of the Principality of Asturias. From Luarca we will head to Cudillero, a place that we will visit with expert local guides and where we will also have free time to taste all the gastronomy of the area, with a prior recommendation from the guides. But before lunch, it’s time to get to know all the corners of another of the most amazing seaside villas on the Asturian coast. Cudillero captivates anyone who sets foot on its streets. Very peculiar and inclined paths, roads and sidewalks that end up in the sea. Throughout them the life and activity of the inhabitants of the so-called ’Villa Pixueta' develops. Its houses facing the sea, the famous Amphitheatre of Cudillero, the incredible cultural and artistic heritage of the place, La Quinta de Selgas (a spectacular museum), the Church of Jesus del Nazareno or the Church of Santa Maria de Soto de Luiña, among other things, are some of the fantastic places that you will visit and where you will surely enjoy with its history and sensational views. And the third stop of this excursion is in Avilés. Known as the ’village of the forward' awaits you to discover a land of discoverers, since the city is known precisely as the ’village of the forward' because of a space dedicated to one of its most illustrious characters, a ruler of the Indies who reconquered Florida in the 16th century. Tradition, history, culture and modernity blend into a perfect cocktail provides all its visitors with a unique experience. Over the years, Avilés has also been transformed into a modern and avant-garde city, where, above all, the Niemeyer Centre stands out. During our visit we will also visit the historic centre, which is incredible, the Church of Sabugo, in front of the estuary of Avilés, the Plaza de la Merced, presided over by the monumental Church of Santo Tomás, or the already mentioned estuary of Avilés, which keeps an incredible history about the so important industrial sector in Asturias.

3. Oviedo: Taramundi, Mazonovo, and Os Teixois Mills Day Trip

Asturias is one of the most beautiful places in the north of Spain. A region considered to be paradise, its mountain villages are authentic pearls. To the west of the Principality is Taramundi, right next to the border with Lugo. A fairytale place where time seems to have stopped. Departing from Oviedo, and making a stop in Gijón, we will go to this wonderful town. You must be ready to be amazed by the beauty of the natural and traditional, in the middle of the Biosphere. As soon as we arrive at Taramundi, we will discover one of its most traditional practices. You should know that this Asturian town is considered an Area of Craft Interest, so the experience in the area would not be complete if we did not know the importance that the razor and knife workshops have had. Practices that you will love to know and will leave you impressed. In addition, we will also have the option to visit one of its famous cheese factories. Because aside from the traditional, Taramundi cheese has managed to value the old ways of making this food. And that is where the charm of knowing the place where its different varieties are made lies. A pleasant visit thanks to which you will get closer to the most traditional side of the area. Once we have entered the Water Route, which is the best known in the region, we are going to immerse ourselves in a place full of charm and nature where we will have the opportunity to see how water was worked and used in area. During the journey we will stop at the famous Mazonovo Mills, between the Turia and Cabreira rivers. It may seem strange, but at this point there is a unique museum in all of Spain. Specifically, the largest center of mills in the entire country. In total, there are 19 windmills that you will be able to see, with eight manual ones, 6 hydraulic ones, three for children and two special ones. As you can see, the activity is also intended for the entertainment of the little ones. After passing through the well-known Salgueira waterfall and other natural treasures in the area, we will arrive at the town of As Veigas, the furthest on the Water Route. A magical place surrounded by the Asturian natural green and its lush forests. Once the visit to this town is over, we will head to the Molinos de Os Teixos. A set of hydraulic constructions that maintain their natural charm and that were recovered to show everyone the importance of the traditional in the area. Here we will get to know in detail the complex of the Os Teixos Mills, declared an Asset of Cultural Interest. In love to the bars with a wonderful and incredible area of western Asturias.

What people are saying about Asturias, Spain

Beautiful towns. In Ribadesella you could spend less time at the viewpoint (the climb is hard, but worth it) and a little more in the streets of the center, because you only see them on the way to the bus. In Llanes, avoid eating at La Bodega del Buzu, which despite the fact that the guys are very friendly, the food is not of good quality and they serve small portions, contrary to the rich and abundant Asturian spirit. Santillana is also beautiful, the three towns are highly recommended. Of course, the prices of everything are rather high, they are designed for tourists. They are places that cannot be missed on a trip to Asturias.

Magnificent visual experience under the direction of our MARTA Guide. Very dedicated and versed. Very successful to go to the farthest place and approach the starting point ... city by city. Beautiful Luarca...Cudillero little time to eat and see something...and Avilés beautiful old town.

Al final no pudimos ir a esta porque ese día temprano me encontré mal y avisé.Me la cambiaron por la de Luarca ,Cadavedo ,Cudilllero y Avilés .Sensacional el paisaje y muy bien nuestro guía Miguel.

Make sure to check if the tour will be offered in English. I used Google Translate in transcript mode. The tour was very good, even with the language issue.

Excellent tour value. Both the driver Juan Carlos and the guide Martha were excellent.
