Depart from Santander and head toward Liébana. You will love this region of Cantabria where the landscape is dominated by mountains, forests, and rivers. On the way, prepare to be impressed when crossing the Hermida Gorge, one of the longest gorges in Spain. The first stop will be to visit the Monastery of Santo Toribio de Liébana, a holy place for Christianity that houses the Lignum Crucis, the largest preserved piece of wood from the cross of Jesus. After this very special stop, continue the trip towards Fuente Dé, where there is the cable car station to go up to Picos de Europa. Enjoy at least 1 hour and 30 minutes of free time there to enjoy the place, take the cable car, or embark on a horseback riding experience around the area (optional). If you take the cable car, the trip will only last 4 minutes and will take you to a height of 1,823 m above sea level. The views from there are just breathtaking. Finally, arrive in Potes, the capital of Liébana and considered one of the most beautiful towns in Spain, with its cobbled streets, bridges, and medieval tower, Torre del Infantado. In addition, from this place, you get some of the best views of Ribadesella and also of the Bay of Biscay. Our itinerary continues towards Llanes, about half an hour away. This is one of the most chosen summer destinations in Asturias, both for its leisure offer and for the beautiful places that can be visited here. Again following our guide we will learn more about the most important places, its Casino, its tower, from the 13th century, the Palace of the Dukes of Estrada or the Gates of Llanes. There will also be time for well-known spaces such as the “Parres Sobrino” square, which rose to fame with the movie “El Orfanato”, which was shot in Llanes. Here we can enjoy free time to continue exploring a bit on our own, or to return to the places that we liked the most. The last stop will be Santillana del Mar, one of the places that you cannot miss if you are in Cantabria. Canoeing down the Nalón River is a fun canoeing down a stretch of the Nalón River between the towns of Las Caldas and Trubia in Oviedo, ideal for lovers of water sports. It is a canoe descent in an area with a lot of flow and variation, with around 6 rapids, wave areas and tame areas that will make the most adventurous an experience full of adrenaline. The descent is always carried out with a monitor to teach you how to handle the canoe, direct yourself in each rapid and give you security throughout the journey.
